Families Across America, Inc. (FAA) ®, was incorporated in 2003 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization registered to transact business in the states of Georgia and Florida. FAA is led by a Board of Directors with all of the powers of governing and directing, and of overseeing the management and affairs of the organization. The corporate governance principles of Families Across America, Inc. are adopted by the Board of Directors and reviewed periodically to ensure that they continue to forward its Mission, Vision, to meet the needs of the organization, people and communities we serve and reflect current industry best practices.
Families Across America ® is registered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Registration Number: 2,953,200.
In 2004, Families Across America embarked on comprehensive governance for Faith-based nonprofit charitable organizations including the most significant amendments to the Congressional Bills signed into law by the President of the United States to modernize the Board to focus on strategic oversight and governance. The Chairman of the Board and the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) are significant leaders of Families Across America, Inc. The Chairman leads the Board of Directors in the governance and oversight of the organization. The President and CEO executes Families Across America strategies and leads the operations and business activities of the organization.
Evelyn Peyton Peters- Washington is the Founder and Chairman of Families Across America, Inc., which was legally registered on November 24, 2004. Ms. Peters-Washington is the former Director of Resource Development & Community Relations for Bethel World Outreach Ministries International (2006-2008). During which time she developed substance for her idea of Families Across America, while traveling to France, Rome, Spain and Africa just to name a few of her endeavors to find clarity for her mission. Currently, she is the Vice President of Strategic Planning & Development for the Parks & Company, a national custom publishing company in the United States.
Families Across America was formed out of a passion to preserve traditional family values, continuing in over 125 years of the Elder Peytons efforts to strengthens families through Education and Biblical principles for building a lifetime foundation.
In 1979, Evelyn married the legendary, Teddy Washington, who was one of the Famous Flames with the Godfather of Soul James Brown. Teddy was world traveled as a United States Military musician committed to making a difference for disadvantaged children living in Jacksonville, Florida, his hometown. He was inducted in the Jacksonville Jazz Festival Hall of Fame, for keeping jazz and hope alive in the City. Through his music, Jacksonvilles own Ambassador of Music used his talent to support the good of many unrecognized musicians, and underserved children. In 2010, he was honored by the City of Jacksonville in a tribute to him for his generous contributions given back to hometown communities. Thats when his widow, Evelyn announced her plans to give meaningful purpose to his legacy through education, making music a motivator for learning and formed Teddy Washington Institute and conservatory of Music & the Arts; a major project of Families Across America, to include a world class museum.
Families Across America (FAA) with Teddy Washington Institute (TWI) is a 501 (C )(3) Public Charity registered with the Secretary of State in Georgia and Florida and is governed by a nine-member board of Directors that meets quarterly.
We are dedicated to strengthening families by preserving traditional family values through the means already important in their lives: Schools, the media, sports, the Internet, seminars, conferences, and special events that raise awareness to preserve a foundational pillar of America. . .the family.
The Teddy Washington Institute (TWI), a major project of FAA creates a college-going career ready culture in disadvantaged communities. By (a) provide a global hub and headquarters as a resource center, which connects Jazz history and other musicians in many cities and countries. And (b) in carrying forward the legacy of Teddys lifetime of work in music and his work in helping young people to develop positive aspirations through music, music education and constructive community participation, and bring economic worth to the communities it serves.
