Families Across America Education Initiatives
“One of the most effective ways that children learn is by fostering out-of-the-box thinking; using tools that relates to their attention and rewards their achievements.†states, Evelyn Peters-Washington founder of Families Across America, Inc. “Enlivening the senses of young people to want to learn requires a comprehensive approach to include parents, community, public school system, and our national education administration. I think success begins at home.â€
We have uniquely integrated Family Wellness incentives with Education initiatives with a goal of creating a connection to private/public Partnerships that would advance student achievement for challenged families. We have launched this idea in Jacksonville, Florida with two pilot programs of engagement. First, the Art of Cooking with Jazz© is a culinary arts program that brings awareness to health and nutrition for a healthy future America, economic worth to the community it serves, and creates a career-ready environment targeting high school dropouts. Its innovative learning atmosphere transforms the way students acquire academic confidence.
Another way we accomplish our goal is by targeting vulnerable students that are in public schools and slow to learn. Again, we make learning fun, but get learning done. With a criteria based on character-building principles, we are able to grab the attention of young people in ways that taps into their hidden talents. Then expand on those talents through academic studies. This FAA education initiative, operating under the Teddy Washington Institute (TWI) programs offers worldwide travel opportunities as one way of rewarding our students, and allowing them to take hold of broad thinking and opportunities to build their hope for adulthood. In either case, we effectively benefit our students successfully from both programs with our clearly defined mandatory learning standard.
Families Across America and Teddy Washington Institute youth programs encompass STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education through music technology, other related sciences, and designated resources that give Steam-for-STEM learning and development support for underprivileged children. Moreover, offer academic scholarships to children who are achieving this goal.
“Education is our most urgent priority. And it should have the highest call on our time and resourcesâ€
